Will your favourite design appear on the new Wimborne Cup?

Planet Wimborne, Wimborne War on Waste, Wimborne Town Council and Wimborne BID want to thank everyone who sent in ideas for what should go on the Wimborne Cup. There were over 50 entries received from people who love the town. The reusable cup will be launched at this year’s Folk Festival to reduce plastic waste and litter.

It’s now over to you, the public, to help choose the final design out of three choices.

Discovering Birds Walk

Dorset Bird Club with Wilding Wimborne.

Meet Dr George Green, a trustee of the Dorset Bird Club with many years of experience in bird watching, for a guided walk around Wimborne Burial ground in search of bird life.

The tour should last between about one and one and a half hours.  Bring binoculars and wear appropriate clothes and foot wear for this outdoor tour, which will require a good level of mobility.

DEED - Promoting Global Learning and Education

DEED

DEED is an education charity supporting and inspiring teachers, pupils and community members to develop their understanding of global issues, environmental sustainability and cultural diversity.

We are Sarah, Louise and Abi and between us we offer four main areas of work: training, workshops, resources and exhibitions. Our services are designed to support and enhance all aspects of education from a global perspective in order to encourage children of all ages to develop self confidence, increased awareness and a positive attitude to taking responsible action.

Dorset Cyclists Network

Dorset Cyclists Network

We are not just a cycling club but a campaign run by elected volunteers covering the whole of Dorset including Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

We are a consultation group used by local authorities on cycling proposals and we work with them. We lobby the councils to improve cycle facilities, especially on behalf of people who cycle to school, work and to the shops.

We work with other organisations with compatible aims.

We help to identify cyclists’ needs such as safer junctions, secure parking, better signs etc.

Dorset Bird Club

Dorset Bird Club

To promote the interest of birds and birdwatching in Dorset.  To collate bird records and produce an annual Dorset Bird Report.  To maintain a database of current and historic bird records which is accessible on request to all national and local research and conservation bodies. To provide comment on and support local conservation issues. To promote and support local regeneration and conservation projects. To support and encourage participation in local and national surveys.

Colehill Sew and Sews

Colehill Sew and Sews

We are a local  group making, dresses and shorts for charity, meeting on the first Wednesday of every month in the home of the founder member. Our aim is to encourage and enable volunteers to join together to have a fun time, to chat, make new friends and share sewing skills  whilst making clothes for children in areas of poverty where we have links, ie. orphanages in India, Africa and Cambodia.  Many of these children have never received new clothes.
