As part of its contribution to Wimborne Town of Culture 2026, Planet Wimborne is developing a series of themed town trails. First up this year is the Wimborne Music Trail – a walking trail around the town, celebrating our local musicians, events and venues, and including some tips on how to enjoy music sustainably. The Music Trail will be launched on Saturday 31st January at 4 pm in Square Records, Wimborne, where local folk musician Dorset Phil will be playing some of his wonderful songs.

Wimborne Repair Café are all about fixing things. A place to bring along your items in need of repair that would otherwise be wasted.
The Repair Cafe is run by the community, for the community.
This event not only provides repair services but is also a space for people to come together for a social chat and to pass on skills.
Clothing, textiles, sewing, small electrical, toys, ceramics, jewellery, small furniture and bicycles. Our team of volunteer fixers are on hand to give your items a new lease of life.
To celebrate Earth Day 2026, come and join us on the Minster Green on 25th April. Meet Wilding Wimborne and other Community Groups.
Join Wimborne War on Waste's Community Clean Up, starting at the Fair Ground Shop, in the Cornmarket and finishing at Hanham Road car park.

Planet Wimborne's successful networking event on Wednesday 24th July saw over 20 local community groups come together to share their passion for the environment. All the groups are affiliated to Planet Wimborne and spoke about what they were doing, taking the opportunity to talk to others and make connections. It was clear Wimborne and the surrounding area has a dedicated army of volunteers, all of who work for the good of the community.
Wimborne’s oldest independent home electronics store, Dacombes (https://www.dacombesofwimborne.com/), is now harnessing the newest technology, with solar energy powering its extensive array of domestic appliances and home cinemas in its Dorset showroom. Matt Renaut, Dacombes’ Managing Director, noted the significant electricity demand of their operations, likening it to ‘three kettles on the boil all day long.’
BCP and Dorset Councils are calling on residents to let them know what a more sustainable transport future should look like. The new joint Local Transport Plan 4 (LTP4) will set out the long-term goals, strategy, and policies for improving transport for everyone over the next 10-15 years.
