As part of its contribution to Wimborne Town of Culture 2026, Planet Wimborne is developing a series of themed town trails. First up this year is the Wimborne Music Trail – a walking trail around the town, celebrating our local musicians, events and venues, and including some tips on how to enjoy music sustainably. The Music Trail will be launched on Saturday 31st January at 4 pm in Square Records, Wimborne, where local folk musician Dorset Phil will be playing some of his wonderful songs.
Emily Metcalfe, a Creative Media student at Poole College, reports on Wimborne Green Festival’s apple pressing event.
The theme for 2026 is 'Celebrating Forests and Economies.'

There was a great response from the public to decide on their favourite Wimborne cup design, with 463 votes cast across the three designs. Becky Dodd of Doddy Design, who created the designs, said, “It was great to see so many people voting for their favourite cup design. I can’t wait to see people with the cup at the Folk Festival and other events around town.”
And we can now reveal the cup:
Planet Wimborne, Wimborne War on Waste, Wimborne Town Council and Wimborne BID want to thank everyone who sent in ideas for what should go on the Wimborne Cup. There were over 50 entries received from people who love the town. The reusable cup will be launched at this year’s Folk Festival to reduce plastic waste and litter.
It’s now over to you, the public, to help choose the final design out of three choices.
The Wimborne Minster Folk Festival is a great event that draws huge crowds to the town to enjoy the dancing and bands. But it also produces a lot of plastic waste. To tackle this plastic waste, local environmental community groups, Planet Wimborne and Wimborne War on Waste, have teamed up with the Folk Festival organisers, Town Council, Wimborne BID and the majority of pubs in the town to launch the reusable Wimborne Cup at this year's Festival. The Wimborne Cup can then be used for any other event in the town.
